Mt. Zion UCC is a member of the United Church of Christ. It was established around 1775 and has been in continuing existance at the present location since that date but the Church building has been rebuilt. Mt Zion has a long History

The governing of the congregation at Mt. Zion is vested in its members. It is the right of the congregation, in proper session, to decide such questions as the call and rejection of pastors, the election of church officers, the policies and constitution of the church, the buying and selling of properties, and all such questions as are needful to carry on the work of the church. 

The congregation elects a Consistory made up of 6 elders and 6 deacons, who with the pastors, is the executive body carrying out the work as submitted to them by the congregation, This group sets up the necessary committees, Boards and organizations that will carry out the many ministries to which the church is called. 

It should be noted that there are many benevolent ministries in which the congregation is engaged. It gives support to the Association and Conference as well as the world ministries of the UCC, it supports our institutions within the bounds of Southern Con­ference, namely, 2 children's homes, 2 colleges including Catawba College in Salisbury, a retirement center, 3 camps and conference centers. It supports community endeavors such as the Bible Program in the schools, chaplaincy in the hospitals, Main Street Marketplace, One Church one Child, Meals on Wheels and other community programs.

  Refundable Cleaning Deposit $50.00
  Rental Fee $75.00

 

• Nonmember rental--A nonmember or non-profit organization may rent the New Building provided the rental isvfor an appropriate purpose as determined by the Executive Committee of the Consistory and provided further that they comply with all regulations and payment of fees for the use of the building.  The Executive Committee of the Consistory may, in its sole discretion, reduce or waive any of the fees below if they determine it would be appropriate to do so.

  Refundable Cleaning Deposit $100.00
  Rental Fee $150.00
  The cleaning fee is refundable but any donation for the use of the facility is greatly appreciated. A donation
  does not relieve them of their responsibilities. If any of the facilities are rented to a non-church member, a member of Mount Zion (or host or hostess) must be present for the event. Compensation will be payable di-rectly to the host or hostess at the rate of $20.00 per hour.
